Childhood Shows
Being a kid from the 2000’s I had many kinds of shows to watch like SpongeBob SquarePants, fairly odd parent, and courage the cowardly dog. But a show that was not partially for kids, but I loved to watch is Monster Quest. Monster Quest was released in 2007 on History channel created by Doug Hajicek and was centered around exploring bizarre and unknown creatures that have been allegedly spotted by witnesses in various parts of the world. As a kid I was always interested in monsters and even though the creepy CGI monster scared me I still loved to watch this show. Rewatching as an “adult” this show still holds up to this day. I like the fact that this show is not one sided in one way or the another. Both sides of the skeptics and the cryptozoologist are both shown in each episode, and it is really your decision whether or not you want to believe either side by evidence given. The episodes are very formulaic, but I do not mind that because I know what to expect for each episode (discuss what kind of monster is terrorizing the region, CGI depiction of creature, eyewitness encounter, historic counts of creature, investigator go look for evidence of creature, discuss the views of the skeptics and believers). The CGI is a little dated, but I think adds to the creepiness to the creatures shown in each episode. Overall, there was really nothing other than small critics like the bad quantity of some first few episodes but overall, this was a great rewatch of a classic show in my eyes.
