Herping
Herping is something that I love to do, but I can only do it during the spring and summer months. Herping is the act of searching for amphibians or reptiles. Hering is a term that is very new to me because I have never known that searching for these small creatures had a name for it, but I am not a professional herpetologist, it is just a hobby of mine. One of my favorite finds was a Eastern Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getulus) which is a very rare find to locate because they are very rare in North Carolina. This species of snake is a very useful snake to have around your land because this species eats other species of snake, mainly venomous ones. One of the cuter finds I have found in this hobby is a https://www.pinterest.com/pin/9570217937080590/ spotted salamander. This is a pretty big species of salamander that can mainly be found on land under leaf letters. This species loves to eat small pest species, so they have great species to have around. Something that I find all the time and cannot escape from is the Common Toad. Every time I go out to look for some little critters, I always find a common toad. Under almost every log and rock there will always be common toads. No matter my age I will always be flipping rock and log searching for small critters.
