Spring Garden
With all the snow that has happened for the last few weeks the winter garden is completely destroyed. All the different leafy greens (lettuce, turnip, kale, chard) are completely squashed by the constant snow. So now I have to start thinking about what I will be planting at the start of spring after the last frost. Last year what I noticed that I did the best are the many kinds of peppers that were planted. All the pepper is produced until the start of winter. The kind of pepper that did the best is the banana pepper so that plant will differently take priority. Something that I will definitely not plant is watermelon not because they produce poorly but because the fruit is so close to the ground box turtles can easily eat them. Something that I will plant differently is squash because of how much they produce but mainly how fast they grow and start to produce. Something new that I am thinking about growing this year is eggplant because that is a plant that I never tried to grow and have never eaten. With former planning for the garden this year hopefully the garden will do ten times better than it did last year.
